Each summer I try to find simple, tasty, healthy hamburger recipes, but they always seem too complicated, too bland or too decadent. Here is the version I came up with, in the spirit of the What the Bible Says about Healthy Living Cookbook (simple, tasty, healthy).

Hungry to hear about gardening from a biblical perspective I was thrilled to watch the film Back to Eden. It opened my eyes to a way of thinking about the land, our Creator and His design for how to make the best of it.

When I first heard about Jordan Rubin’s new Beyond Organic food company, I was skeptical, primarily because it uses network marketing (multi-level marketing). However, I was desperate.

I renamed this super-simple version of Chicken Parmesan to help my son be open to it. It worked! The best part: these stayed perfectly moist, even on day 2. As always, try to incorporate vegetables into this. I didn't have room in the pan, but next time I'll probably try tossing chunks of bell peppers, onions and zucchini with the sauce in the pan, too.

I adapted this recipe from the latest Agriberry CSA newsletter. It wasn't as flavorful as I expected it to be, but it's super-high in protein, easy to make, has a nice texture, and is a great wheat-free option for people on gluten free diets or who will soon be looking for wheat-free Passover breakfast recipes. Once it's topped with jam or syrup, it's plenty tasty!

Dr. Rex Russell’s What the Bible Says about Healthy Living inspired Nicole Ayers to lose 40 pounds and write a companion study guide that she now wants to bless you with. Read how this mom of 3 is also getting ready to run her first ultramarathon (50k) to heal, help bless others who have lost a loved one, and raise money for abused and neglected children.

I was going to make soup with these yummy ingredients but decided to make mashed potatoes instead. So, rather than adding additional liquid for soup, I left the concoction thick and served it on plates instead of in bowls.

I so enjoy eating “biblically” that I spent years in pursuit of “biblical” cosmetics--mostly without success. Then I discovered a book that changed everything: Beauty Secrets of the Bible by Ginger Garrett (Thomas Nelson). I was thrilled to learn easy, effective ways of using God’s inexpensive, natural ingredients that were (mostly) already in my pantry. Here are a few of my favorite ideas from Ginger, as well as other sources around the web.

I asked Pastor Bill Beyer to write a guest blog on exercise, since he recently adopted a new fitness focus similar to my 7 Reasons to Quit Your Gym. CrossFit is a whole body workout that requires little to no fitness equipment. I like their philosophy that “Fitness is the ability to do real work,” which is why I pair exercise with faith. The best exercise for each of us is that which best equips us for the tasks God has set forth for us. I hope you find his story as inspiring as I do!
